We invest in, advise on, build and manage health, social care and community facilities.
We work in lots of different environments. As well as building fantastic new facilities, we deliver and maintain GP surgeries, dental accommodation, pharmacies, outpatient facilities, rehabilitation space, minor surgery rooms, mental health facilities, residential care facilities, office space, public health access points/shops, general purpose community rooms and cafe facilities.
We also manage buildings that we don’t own on behalf of our clients. In doing so, we help them to maximise space and we minimise the costs associated with maintaining the facilities to help their budgets stretch even further.

And what we do travels well. Location is not a problem. We have a well established and proactive supply chain that, can deliver projects of all sizes, anywhere.

relationship that we enjoy with the NHS Hull, Kingston upon Hull City Council, Humber Mental Health Teaching Trust, our advisors and supply chain.
Jo is responsible for ensuring delivery of all of Citycare's commitments, providing strategic advice to partners and setting and maintaining the direction of the Company with the Board. Since joining in 2008, Jo has more than doubled the size of the company’s portfolio and has significantly extended the range of services and products offered by Citycare.
Prior to joining Citycare, Jo was a Director at Hull's Urban Regeneration Company (Hull Citybuild). She has worked across the North of England and Scotland across a range of regeneration and economic development organizations for the past 15 years.

Castle Hill Hospital on their minor works programme, before progressing to the Estates Department at Hull Royal working on their capital programme.
He then left the NHS to work in private practice as a Project Manager working on commercial leisure projects in the UK and large mixed developments (retail and residential) in the Republic of Ireland. Richard takes a lead role in managing large and complex development projects.

of clients from private sector developers through to local residents and businesses.
It was there that she had the opportunity to work on various city centre schemes, including the Fruit Market, St Stephen’s and Humber Quays. More recently, her focus was on the Fruit Market, involving various demolition works, public realm improvements, refurbishment works, and engaging with creative industries for short term lettings of some of the historic buildings.
Caroline oversees Citycare’s operational facilities and manages an extensive programme of repair and refurbishment works to partner’s established facilities to maximise the value of the estate.
Nadine Precious - Personal Assistant
Nadine joined the Citycare team in 2011 after previously working as PA to the Chief Executive of NHS Hull.
As well as acting as Jo Barnes’ Personal Assistant, Nadine also provides effective admin support to the rest of the Citycare team.
Charles Lewis - Independent Chair
Charles retired from Ernst & Young as Managing Partner of its Hull operation in 2002. He was admitted to the global...
organisation in 1975 and was subsequently seconded for periods in London and overseas. Charles was involved with publicly quoted and owner managed businesses as client service leader, involving the co-ordination of all Ernst & Young services. He also had client service responsibility to a number of high profile companies, including Northern Foods, Hanson, Kingston Communications, Dixon Motors and ARCO.
A former Chair of Teesland PLC and Non Executive Chairman of Wykeland Group PLC, Charles is currently Chair of Citycare as well as being Non Executive Director and Chairman of the audit committee for Hanson Transport Group Ltd.
Charles is also a Trustee of Yorkshire Laser Centre (Medical Research). In addition he is a Trustee and Non Executive Director of Humberside Youth Association Limited and Chairman of Humberside Youth Association Training Limited. He is also a member of the University of Hull's audit committee and a trustee for Catzero Ltd.
Charles is a Freeman of City of London and Liveryman of Worshipful Company of Chartered Accountants. In what little spare time he has, Charles is a keen golfer, he is an avid Hull City follower and is a regular visitor to the Millennium Stadium to watch his beloved Wales RUFC.
Alan Barton - NHS Hull
Alan is the Public Sector Director of Citycare and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA).
He is the Chief Operating Officer at NHS Hull, following 5 years as Director of Finance within the same organisation. Alan also held a similar post in West Hull PCT, a predecessor organisation, from October 2001 to October 2006.
Alan has been a Director of Finance in the NHS since 1985 and has worked in a number of organisations providing a range of healthcare including a large acute trust, a specialist acute provider and a mental health & learning disabilities provider.
He has held a range of portfolios in addition to Finance including Information Management & Technology, Procurement, Strategic Planning and Estates. His current portfolio includes Facilities which comprises management of NHS Hull's estate and provision of new facilities via the LIFT programme.

Dave has been closely involved in PFI and PPP, in addition to LIFT, including Victoria Dock Primary School, York Schools PFI project and more recently Building Schools for the Future. Dave works on many of Sewell Group's cross sector developments and has been instrumental in managing the Hull LIFT project through from bid stage to financial close right through to completion of the first Tranche of nine projects.

Sewell Group achieved a UK first in 1999 when it provided the first school in the country to be delivered under the Governments Private Finance Initiative (PFI); this has lead to further cross sector PPP projects including a Village Centre community development with Preston Road New Deal for Communities, Hull LIFT (Citycare) and York Schools. The company is also part of Hull Esteem Consortium, the organisation appointed by Hull City Council to deliver the city's £400m BSF programme.
Paul was responsible for bringing the Yorkshire International Business Convention to Hull and is the driving force behind Business Week across the Humber.
The 2010 University of Hull New Year's honorary graduate list included Sewell Group's, MD, Paul Sewell. Paul was awarded the Doctor of Science Honoris Causa for his services to business and the economy and his lifelong commitment to supporting and helping others. Further recognition followed as part of HM The Queen's Birthday Honours List in 2011 when Paul was awarded an OBE for his work in promoting the regeneration of Hull and the surrounding area.

Board since October 2010. Prior to this, Martin was Chief Executive at Doncaster Community Solutions – another LIFT Company – for five years, seeing the company through a period a significant growth and development.
As well as Citycare, Martin represents CHP on five other LIFT Companies.
Before being involved in LIFT, Martin worked at a senior level in local economic development with Yorkshire Forward and Renaissance South Yorkshire and helped the region draw upon European Union regeneration funds to enable delivery of business support and capital development programmes.

In 2001 he joined United Medical Enterprises Ltd as Managing Director of its investment business. The principle focus has been on the development of PFI / PPP projects in the Healthcare sector. He has also played a key role in the expansion of the business notably by establishment of Primary Care, rehabilitation and also Diagnostic and Imaging businesses.
